Meditate to Create

So many people have told me they “can’t” meditate. To which I always reply, that’s impossible!

There are many types of meditation, however the basic premise is to sit quietly in a way that’s comfortable for you with a straight spine, breathe consciously and just allow yourself to settle, decompress and not be doing whatever it is you’re doing all the time.

How can anyone mess that up?

The issue is that for a new meditator, suddenly you will be aware that your mind might be going nuts. Your thoughts may swirl all over the place and it may be difficult for you to sit still without squirming or wanting to get up and get back into action.

This is the practice of meditation. We must learn to sit quietly. After some time it becomes easier. If you are lucky like me, you may meet a teacher who gives you something of an initiation blessing that makes it easier.

I noticed that after meditating with my teacher Rinpoche, suddenly it was a whole lot easier. He is meditation master who has spent probably over a decade, maybe more of his life in meditation. So being around him allowed me to absorb some of that wisdom and experience gained from the practice and I am so grateful. 🙏🏼

However, If you don’t happen to have a Tibetan monk in your life to instruct you, don’t worry! The secret to meditation is to practice.

Even a few minutes a day will completely change your brain. It will give you new awareness and a tool to help you calm yourself and your mind if you get stressed.

You will start craving the time and space to sit and be still with yourself.

The mind may not stop. However you can learn to observe it and not get so involved with whatever it is thinking or saying.

I cannot stress this enough, just meditate! Start today! Even learning how to sit quietly for a few minutes each day has incredible benefits.

When we pray, this is an action of giving or asking. Meditation is how we receive.

I’m speaking about silent meditation here, and guided meditations can also be very useful. I have several free ones as well as some music as a gift that’s available on my website. Link in the bio.
